The Bundesdeutsche Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management (B.A.U.M.) e. V. and the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld are committed to the principles of sustainability, especially in the economy. Both institutions have been working together for many years.
Since July 2014, an official cooperation agreement with B.A.U.M. e.V. has existed, initiated by Prof. Dr. Klaus Helling. This cooperation forms the framework for a lasting, sustainable and future-oriented cooperation in the mutual interest: The aim is to make a visible joint contribution to education for sustainable development through various projects and measures.
B.A.U.M. e.V. was founded in 1984 as the first non-partisan environmental initiative of the economy and today, with 550 members, it is Europe's largest network for the promotion of environmental and sustainability commitment in the economy. Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld is an official member of B.A.U.M. e.V. in 2014.
The work of B.A.U.M. e.V. sensitises companies, institutions, politicians and the general public to the problems and opportunities of preventive environmental protection and to questions of sustainable economic management. Its members support the network in all questions of environmental protection and in the entrepreneurial implementation of the principle of sustainable development.

An essential component of the cooperation is the transfer of knowledge between the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld and the companies organised by B.A.U.M. e.V.. Particular attention is paid to the dual Bachelor's programme "Sustainable Resource Management" - a combination of commercial training in the company and business studies, combined with environmental and sustainability aspects. B.A.U.M. e.V. as a link between business and science, it is important to support the educational concept of the Dual Degree Programme "Sustainable Resource Management" and to bring it closer to its member companies as an instrument for the efficient and effective securing of young talent.
In addition, joint annual exchanges of information and experience for the cooperation companies and students of the Dual Degree Course "Sustainable Resource Management" as well as for all students of the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld are an integral part of the cooperation.
