The European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) supports the authorities responsible for forest fire protection in the EU and neighboring countries by providing up-to-date and reliable information about forest fires in Europe. It also serves the European Commission and the European Parliament with critical data. In 2015, EFFIS became one of the components of the emergency management services within the EU's Copernicus program.

Global Wildfire Information System:

The Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS) is a joint initiative of the GEO and Copernicus work programs. The new GEO-GWIS work plan for 2020-2022 aims to consolidate existing regional and national information sources. This integration enables a comprehensive overview of the frequency and intensity of bush and wildfires occurring in specific areas over long periods. GWIS provides insights into fire impacts at a global level and offers tools to support operational wildfire management.
