The energy consumption of information and communications technology (ICT) is continuously increasing. "Green IT" refers to all activities that make the usage of ICT environmentally friendly and resource-efficient over its entire life cycle. This includes components such as data centers, networks and user devices, but also the software that runs on these components. The energy and resource consumption of hardware has been researched for many years. However, it is the software that controls the hardware and thus causes the resource and energy consumption but also holds potential to optimize it. This is where the research activities in the field of "green software engineering" come into play. Since 2008 we work on research projects, in the focus area of sustainable software, as well as sustainability through software. The following research projects have been and are being worked on.
