Auxiliaries

The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a permanent and citable identifier for electronic documents, including electronic journal articles. It begins with a "10". There are two ways to access a document using the DOI:

• In the address bar of your browser, type the DOI directly, preceded by "doi.org/" (e.g., "https://dx.doi.org/10.1038/35057062").
• Access the DOI URL Finder and enter the DOI there (e.g., 10.1038/35057062).

• Citation databases record the publications in which a publication has been cited. They can be used to go from one literature source to other sources (keyword: "forward chaining").

• Journals are the most common means of publishing research results in many disciplines. Knowledge of a discipline's journals and their status can therefore be of great benefit for research.

• Thesauri are directories of technical terms and their relationships to each other (synonyms, generic/subordinate terms, etc.). They can be used to collect search terms for a search.
• EU Vocabularies
  offers three thesauri: Digital Europa Thesaurus, ECLAS and EuroVoc
• OGND
  Online access to the Gemeinsame Normdatei GND (GND is maintained by the German National Library, among others)
• Semantic Network Service SNS (UMTHES)
  is based on the vocabulary of the environmental thesaurus UMTHES
• Standard Thesaurus Economics
  also integrated in the research portal EconBiz and the database wiso
• TEMA - Technik und Management
  Database with technology thesaurus (use via campus network or VPN)
• Wikipedia
  not suitable as a scientific source of justification, but as a supplier of search terms and literature references
• wiso Database

• DeepL Translator
  Online service of DeepL GmbH, which translates words, texts and entire web pages.
• Dict.cc
  Multilingual online foreign language dictionary. Offers language recordings, translation forum, and vocabulary trainer, among other features.
• Google Translator
  Google online service that translates words, texts and web pages. Tip: To have entire pages translated, enter the web address in the left window.
• Linguee
  Multilingual online foreign language dictionary linked to a search engine that shows searched words in sentence context.
