Since 2004, the Institute for Operations and Technology Management (IBT) has been cooperating with regional companies on process optimization, solutions to current production problems, and new developments or investigations in the areas of energy and resource optimization. Within the institute, several laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment are available for teaching and industrial cooperation.
After the departure of the long-time director Prof. Gerke, who built up remanufacturing at the Umwelt-Campus, the board of directors is reorganizing. Prof. te Heesen, head of the study program Renewable Energies and Environmentally Oriented Energy Technology, represents renewable energies as the new director of the IBT. Deputy directors are Prof. Matthias Vette-Steinkamp, who represents the subject area of environmentally friendly production processes and industrial robotics, and Prof. Michael Wahl with the subjects of development and design and additive manufacturing. In addition, Prof. Wahl is in charge of the bachelor's degree program in mechanical engineering - product development and technical planning.
